Local Black Locust/Epoxy Hybrid Live Edge Mid Century Modern Coffee Table.
A one of a kind slab of Black locust felled by a local arborist, milled and dried by a local mill.
The slab, molded in Ecopoxy Liquid Plastic, has been meticulously processed and hand shaped, planed, and smoothed into the piece seen here. All interior defects of the dried slab are filled and bonded with a black filler, deepening the character of the already spectacular grain of this species. The brass powder coated steel hairpin legs are attached with deep threaded inserts embedded directly into the wood and epoxy. To keep the pieces naturally beautiful colors, I used several coats of Walrus Oil, a natural curing oil made of Polymerizing Safflower Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, and a hint of Lime for freshness. After the oil had cured, I then applied several coats of a Carnauba & Candelilla Wax for even more protection.
Locally sourced, vegan friendly, responsibly produced.
